ARID LAND
The southwestern region of Africa is one of stark beauty. Namibia and the Northern Cape province of South Africa share similar characteristics: arid, desolate, remote, and incredibly photogenic. The Namib Desert stretches for more than 2,000 kilometers and is considered the oldest desert in the world. This country is a photographer's paradise. Namibia is a destination I will never stop traveling to.
Further east, Botswana boasts landscapes unlike any other on Earth, such as the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. These pans are among the largest, flattest places on the planet and can even be seen from outer space. The salt pan is all that remains of the once-enormous Lake Makgadikgadi, which dried up thousands of years ago. Large granite rocky islands dot the landscape, and towering Baobab trees create an astonishing scene. It is one of the most remarkable places I have ever traveled to.
